Salome

Position: Associate Sound Designer
Sound Designer: Dan Zini
Location: NMU Panowski Black Box
Date: Winter 2023
Our production of Salome consisted of 14 actors with mics and was mixed line-by-line on a Behringer X32. This production was a good experience in creating design deliverables in a short amount time due to being brought on the production late. As the associate designer I designed two ambiance sound effects, programmed the TheatreMix file, and overall assisted the sound designer during the tech process. Sound effects, TheatreMix file, and run script sample can be found below.
Since the play takes place out on the balcony, I wanted to convey that the majority of the guests are still inside and eating. I spliced together a few different restaurant ambiances and strategically used a low pass filter to accomplish this.
This effect was used to support the idea that the play takes place on the balcony at night. Basic adjustments were made to not stand out too much
